Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery Plan Development

Business Continuity Plans are required when operational capability is partially or fully inoperative and unable to deal with degraded operational capabilities resulting from natural and/or man-made causes.A Business Recovery Plan (BRP) for business operations or a Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) for data center or technical operation, describes the actions to be taken, the resources to be used, and the procedures to be followed before, during, and after a disaster occurs.Cerzán will help determine and guide the selection of alternative business recovery operating strategies, for recovery of business and information technologies within the recovery time objective, while maintaining the organization’s critical functions.

Risk Assessment

The risk analysis identifies known threats, their potential for occurring, their impact on business operations, and mitigation options, wherever possible. High frequency or high impact threats that cannot be eliminated must be planned for. Threats that can be partially mitigated establish the basis for recovery planning and the time frames for anticipated interruptions.Cerzán will analyze probable events and environmental surroundings that can adversely affect the organization and its facilities. Cerzán will identify and quantify the damage such events can cause, and the controls needed to prevent or minimize the effects of potential loss. Cerzán will also provide cost-benefit analysis, to justify investment in controls to mitigate identified risks.

Business Impact Analysis (BIA)

Business Impact Analysis (BIA) provides both the foundation and focus for all Business Continuity Planning programs and plans. These analyses identify the interdependencies, exposures, financial and operational impacts that may result from a disruption in daily business or operations. The analyses drive the priorities, strategies, and solutions for managing continuity and recovery at the process level. It is important that these first analyses be performed in a manner sufficient to provide enough information to make informed decisions about the direction and strategy of any Business Continuity Program.Cerzán will help determine the consequences if individual locations, business units, or processes are disrupted or lost. We will quantify outage costs over time and identify vital functions and dependencies. Cerzán will provide management with reliable data, concerning potential impacts and costs, allowing for proper selection of recovery strategies and their priority for recovery.

Plan Maintenance

Once the plan is created and exercised (tested) there will need to be processes in place to allow changes and updates. Cerzán works with your staff to develop proper maintenance procedures to keep your plans current. If you don't have the staff or time to maintain your plan, Cerzán will maintain your plan for you. Cerzán can customize a solution to fit your unique requirements, including periodical procedure checks, monthly meetings, exercise planning and execution, and “updates to” the plan. These are personalized services, for less than you would normally pay a full time employee.

Plan Exercise and Evaluation

Plan exercises (tests) are an integral part in validating any recovery plan. Cerzán will assist in scenario planning, scheduling and execution of Information Technology (IT) and business operations plans. Cerzán can also audit a company's current plan and make recommendations to help validate recoverability, in the event of an unplanned outage.
